Mak JaH punYEr Mi UdanG..

Another activity during our CNY holiday recently was going to this place which was suppose to be famous. It is also suppose to be very delicious. But I beg the differ.

We went to Mi Udang Mak Jah at Kuala Sepetang. The place is famous for its Mi Udang, obviously. They say that the prawns served are big and fresh. Thinking about it made my mouth waters. I heard about it for so long but only had the chance to go recently. That was because Azida was in town. So we thought we head to a place with local delicacies.

Because of the holiday, indeed, the restaurant was a full house. We had to wait for a while to get seats. When we asked for the menu, Azida wanted to order Udang Kunyit. Unfortunately, the waiter said that they were not able to cook that because they did not have enough man power at that time. They only served their special dish, Mi Udang.

When our food arrived, we were eager to eat as we were very hungry. It smelled good as well. but when I started to eat, I found that the prawn was not clean enough. Sure, the prawns were big and did look mouthwatering. But it seemed like they took the prawn from the boxes and dump it in the pot to cook. According to Ridzuan, the prawn smelled too. But since me and Edi were hungry, we were able to finish our Mi Udang, unlike Azida and Ridzuan. If I have to rate the taste, I'll give it 7/10.

I must say, I don't blame the owner for the taste. I suppose it should taste better, which explains why they are famous. But because of the holiday and customers coming in and out non-stop, they did not have time for quality control. They did not want the customers to wait for a long time for their food to arrive. I think that is one of their policies.

Told cha it is famous

Looks tempting right?

One of the activities that we wanted to do when we were in Ipoh recently was to play zorbing. It is the game where you get into a big air ball which is transparent. Imagine you are a hamster in their transparent ball running around everywhere you want. Yeah.. it is just like that, only bigger.

So we went to this place called Bukit Kinding Resort somewhere in Tanjong Rambutan. We were excited about it, at least I know I was. I asked the girls whether they wanted to play as well, they said no. They just wanted to watch. Bummer! If I was the only girl playing, so be it!

A few of the boys went to ask for the price or package at the counter. Unfortunately again, it was full! Again, I blamed it on the holidays. Everything seemed to be fully booked. Apparently we have to book at least 2 weeks earlier during peak seasons.

As the result, after a quick lunch at McDonald's at Tambun, Edi and I headed back to Taiping.

A belated birthday celebration

oUtdOOrs wiTh aziDa..

My friend, Azida and her family went to Penang and Taiping for her CNY holiday recently. When they were in Taiping, we hung out for awhile.

At first we wanted to go to Maxwell Hill aka Bukit Larut. I have never been there before. But unfortunately because of the holiday, the tickets were sold out. Bummer! We could hike up but we refused to. We weren't wearing the right gear and with Azida's son, Adam tagging along. We thought of taking the jeep to go up. But like I mentioned, they "ran out" of jeeps that day. Well, maybe next time.

So our second choice of activity was to stroll along Lake Garden. Like always, when we go to that place, we will be taking a lot of photos. I had posted on the last post. But today, I'll be posting photos of us, the people. Mind you, it was hot! I got sunburned. =(

We weren't able to go up, so we took picture of the signboard only. Jadi laa..

BBQ DurinG Cny..

This is actually a continuation from the last post. The last post was about lunch in Ipoh. This post is about the night on the same day. We had BBQ at Edi's friend (Jeb)'s house at Pulai Heights.

There were a variety of food. Most of the food were prepared by the lady of the house, Mrs. Erina (Jeb's wife). I'll post the pictures of the food later. The other ladies including myself just help with what ever we could like chopping and dicing.

Actually this group always had BBQ together. It is just unfortunate that I was always unable to attend, mainly because I was back in Terengganu. From now on I'll make sure that I'll go so that I won't feel too awkward with the group. I mean, they have been friends since UM time. Suddenly here I am squeezing in. But all of them were cool about it. I did not feel left out or anything. They were friendly too.

Besides the BBQ, we also celebrated birthdays. There were 4 of us. Our birthday was not on the same day, but close to one and another. I had an enjoyable time. I have to admit it was tiring, but worth it. Edi was very tired that he did not want to drive back to Taiping that night. So we slept over for the night and went back the next day.

One of the activities

iPoh Lunch..

During the Chinese New Year holiday, we went to Ipoh. Edi had a meeting with his friends. They went for a meeting, I just waited for them to finish. While doing so, I went online to update the blog and continued to watch The Big Bang Theory.  Without realizing it, they had finished their meeting.

After a few photo shoots, we went out for lunch at a mamak restaurant called Vanggey. The lunch was great. The crowd was great. At first I thought the restaurant was closed due to the holiday. Surprisingly, it was opened with customers.
